The Fundamentals of Hand-building Pottery Semi-Private Lesson
Have you ever wanted to give hand-building pottery a try but couldn’t quite make a class fit into your schedule?! Now here’s your chance!
In this 2-hour session, you will meet with one of our qualified hand-building pottery instructors who will give you an introduction to our pottery studio, guide you through the basics of hand-builidng pottery, as well as walk you through all the ins-and-outs of proper clean-up and maintenance of the pottery equipment. (Subsequent lessons will see more time on hand-building techniques assuming studio etiquette and clean-up have been properly covered in the first lesson.) The instructor may choose to teach up to 3 people at a time in one of these semi-private sessions. This price is per student, no exceptions.
How to book: We currently have one instructor available for semi-private handbuilding lessons, please contact the instructor directly BEFORE PAYING to arrange a day/time that works for both of you.

Age minimum: We recommend these sessions for those aged 12+ however you are welcome to contact the instructor to discuss younger ages.
*The cost of clay is not included in this fee, clay can be purchased onsite in the Elkford Art Studio on the first day of class with exact change or by e-transfer. A bag of white clay is $40, a bag of red (or other) clay is $30.
IMPORTANT: IN ORDER TO USE OUR POTTERY STUDIO FOR HAND-BUILDING UNSUPERVISED YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED A MINIMUM OF 3 SEMI-PRIVATE OR IN-CLASS SESSIONS WITH A QUALIFIED INSTRUCTOR. PLEASE INQUIRE WITH ONE OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS FOR SPECIAL PERMISSION IF YOU HAVE PRIOR POTTERY EXPERIENCE AT ANOTHER FACILITY. THIS WILL NOT GRANT YOU PERMISSION TO USE THE WHEELS AS ADDITIONAL TRAINING IS REQUIRED.
